The Big One

And so the huge machine arrives on time and straddles each of the remaining rows in turn, driving through faster than our little Renault can manage on the road, spurting out its contents every few minutes to the waiting tractors. 7 tonnes in all, and off it goes to the winery where we watch it being tipped into the underground machinery. It's the last we'll see of our produce till it appears bottled and shrink-wrapped in six months time, and it feels a bit sad – nrturing all that greenery for the best part of a year and watching it leave home without a backward glance! Still, there's a few bunches the monster missed on it's travels, so it will be a jam-making week next week.
